Boy, 7, Found Dead After..

Hurricane Helene has brought terrible destruction, taking at least 135 lives, with the Carolinas hit the hardest. One of the most heartbreaking stories is that of 7-year-old Micah Drye and his grandparents in Asheville, North Carolina. They were tragically swept away by rushing floodwaters after trying to find safety on a rooftop.

Although Micah’s mother, Megan Drye, survived, she had to endure the unbearable loss of her son and parents in this disaster.

Megan’s sister, Jessica Drye Turner, shared the devastating news with the world, recounting the terrifying moments. In Micah’s last moments, as the floodwaters rose, he called out, “Jesus! Please help me!” These words haunt the family, a heartbreaking reminder of how fast the storm took everything from them.

Jessica poured out her feelings of sorrow and faith in an online post, writing, “New grief and strong faith. New motto.” Despite their overwhelming pain, they’re clinging to their faith for strength.

Micah’s body was found about a quarter mile away from where Megan had been rescued, showing just how powerful the floodwaters had been. The storm ripped apart their family, leaving a huge void in their hearts.

To help Megan, who lost not just her loved ones but also her home and everything she owned, another sister, Heather Kephart, created a GoFundMe page. On the page, there’s a photo of Micah, smiling in a Jurassic World T-shirt. The picture was taken by his grandmother, just before the storm hit—a happy moment frozen in time before everything changed.

As the affected communities begin the long road to recovery, the Drye family’s story is just one of many tragic losses caused by Hurricane Helene. But in the face of such overwhelming heartbreak, families like theirs will need incredible resilience and strength to heal and rebuild their lives.
